Faversham Town boss Terry Cordice made it four wins out of four - then set his sights on a great eight.

Faversham surged back to win 4-3 at Kent County League champions Cray Valley after being two down after just FOUR MINUTES on Saturday.

James Holder pulled one goal back before a brilliant individual effort from Rikki Cable made it 2-2 at half-time.

A Julian Beal penalty and a goal from Ross Cable put Faversham in the driving seat but Cray Valley provided a late scare with a third.

Faversham held their nerve in a tense finale with goalkeeper Tim Holmes in magnificent form between the posts as they moved up to third in the table.

Cordice and his assistant Peter Holder were thrilled with another maximum return and immediately set their sights on going unbeaten in October.

Faversham Town take on midtable Rusthall away on Saturday before entertaining Lydd Town the following weekend with neighbours Norton Sports - who have two games in hand - due at Salters Lane on 22nd October.

A journey to bottom-placed Snodland completes the month and Cordice sees no reason why they cannot emerge from the series with an unbeaten eight-game run intact.

He said:  "We have a total of five games in October and I'd love us to win them all. We won the first on Saturday and there's four to go. That's the target for the lads - let's see how they respond to the challenge.

"We've been banging on at the lads for weeks now about believing in their ability and we are starting to see the results.

"Sure, that's four out of four for us and we have to be pleased with third in the table but let's not get carried away - there's a long, long way to go.

"I feel we are now a more organised team. We are gelling together as a unit and the lads are enjoying the atmosphere.

"Football is not rocket science. We are doing the simple things better now and Saturday's game showed that they can battle too.

"They can all play football. Let's just see where we are at Christmas time - we'll have a better idea of our chances but so far, so good."

Rusthall mirrored Faversham's away victory with a 4-3 win over second-to-bottom Fleet Leisure on Saturday.

And Cordice revealed: "I know a little about Rusthall. They are a big, physical side but they also like to play football which should suit us.

"We will need to match them if it becomes a battle and then keep playing our football right to the end and the result should come."

Cordice was surprised to see highly-fancied Stansfeld Oxford & Bermondsey Club drop points at home with a 3-1 defeat to Bromley Green.

And it has not escaped his attention that local rivals Norton Sports look a real danger after seeing off Milton Athletic 2-1 on Saturday.

Cordice said: "No one team stands out at the moment as the Stansfeld result shows you. But we'll just keep our heads down and keep working.

"It should be a great game against Norton. They're obviously a good side but we'll welcome them to our place with a alot of confidence."
