Faversham Town accepted in Kent County Premier |
| FAVERSHAM
Town have been accepted into the premier division of the British Energy
Kent County League, writes Stephen McCartney. The Salters Lane outfit are one of fifteen sides in the premier division, which sees promoted sides Norton Sports and Rusthall being given the green light. Tenterden Town, however, suffered a torrid time last season, with both their first team and reserve team finishing rock bottom in their respective divisions. Their first team won only once, and drew once in 26 league games and had one point deducted by the league. Their reserves, also finished bottom, collecting eight points (winning twice) in 24 league outings. New clubs being accepted in the league are Metrogas (Division One West), Atcost (Division Two East), New Ash Green (Division Two East), New Bromleians (Division Two West), Borden Village (Reserve Division East) and Bly Spartans (Reserve Division West). Metrogas, who secured the London Intermediate Cup last season, have former Gillingham, Folkestone Invicta, Tonbridge Angels and Bromley star, Billy Manuel in their ranks. Two sides have changed their names during the close season. Bliby are now called Ashford Borough and Beauwater are renamed Fleet Leisure. Last season's premier division champions, Cray Valley (PM) secured the title by 12 points.
