The Sky (Blues) the limit for students
THE YOUNG players, members of the Bromley College/Ten Em
Bee football scholarship scheme have been training long and hard three days a
week throughout the long summer holidays, writes Stephen McCartney.
During this period they have played a number of friendly matches
beating Whitstable Town (1-0), Hastings United (3-2) and drawing against
Lingfield (4-4) and Lewisham Borough (1-1).
However, they lost 3-2 to the PASE team at Gravesend & Northfleet and 4-0 to
Northampton Town.
The purpose of scholarship is to develop each and every individuals football and
academic ability - this aim has certainly paid off for two sixteen-year-olds who
trained all summer and are awaiting results from their recent trials for the
academy at Championship club Coventry City - who were pleased to have identified
them prior to the Northampton Town match.
Ten Em Bee have close contacts with many League, non-league clubs and Colleges
in the USA for the benefit of their students.
Ten Em Bee are currently researching the possibility of introducing similar
scholarships for other sports.
Recruitment for 2004-2005 is starting in the Autumn and all enquiries from
potential students and adults who wish to be part of this exciting initiative
with limitless possibilities should contact tenembee@hotmail.com
or telephone 020 8313 9510 (24-hour).
