I want to be competing for the play-off's next season, says Whitstable Town boss Peter Nott PDF Print E-mail

WHITSTABLE TOWN boss Peter Nott says his side should be pushing towards the play-off’s next season, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Oystermen finished their campaign in fifteenth place in the Ryman League Division One South table, courtesy of four wins and a draw (and three successive clean sheets) and finished a comfortable nine points clear of the bottom two.

Whitstable Town are perennial slow starters and only seem to pick up the majority of their points after Christmas and this is something the former Maidstone United boss wants to address next season.

“We are already thinking about pre-season and the need to start off as we finished this, with a run of decent results and let’s just see where we are in December compared to the last few seasons,” he told www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk.

“The lads have shown me what they are capable of and we have a better understanding of each other and what I can expect from them.”

Nott added: “This season is now finished and the club can be pleased with finishing in fifteenth position.  What is annoying is if we’d had one or two more results we could have been a top ten club.

“I can’t wait for next year and have a full season to show just how far we can go.  I do not want to be happy to sit mid-table but want to be competing for a top two spot or the play-offs.”
