Maidstone bring in Cook
Go Travel Kent League club Maidstone United have announced a
further addition to their squad.
Chatham Town’s Glenn Cook was unveiled as the latest interest of manager
Lloyd Hume.
Cook was part of the Chatham side that won the Kent League back in 1999 but
was also part of current Stones number two Alan Walker's squad at Tonbridge
Angels.
Hume described him as a 6ft 3ins central defender with a proven ability
to be successful at Kent League level.
He joined Walker at Tonbridge in the summer of 2002 from neighbours and rivals
Chatham, where he had been since July 1997 after signing from Lordswood. He
returned to Chatham in February 2003.
Although suspended for the start of the season, Cook is eager to build up his
fitness to be a key figure in the Stones squad for next season.
Pre-season training kicks off this week when the Stones’ squad gather on
Tuesday and both Walker and Hume now feel that they are putting together the
right mix of both youth and experience with the addition of Cook, former Dover
Athletic player-coach Mark Patterson and midfielder Peter Overton to fill the
gaps of last season when leadership was clearly lacking on the field.
