Langley relieved of his duties at struggling Dover
DOVER ATHLETIC have confirmed head coach Richard Langley
has been relieved of his duties for the bottom of the table clash at Kingstonian
on Monday evening, writes Stephen McCartney.
Langley is having discussions with the Whites board on Sunday about his future
and while these talks take place he will not be in charge of first-team affairs.
The Ryman League Premier Division club have decided to appoint reserve coach
Gary Whittle as caretaker-manager and he will be in charge for the trip to
Kingsmeadow and any further games as required.
Director John Farrington issued the following statement on Saturday night:
"As you will appreciate the three members of the board have had quite a
busy evening. After our emergency board meeting held after the fans forum
the following decisions and actions have been taken.
"Initial contact and basic talks have taken place with Richard Langley,
these will continue on Sunday.
"As a direct result of this Richard will not be in charge of first team
affairs against Kingstonian on Monday night.
"On a caretaker basis the reserve coach Gary Whittle will take charge for
the above and any subsequent games as required.
"This is still a developing situation and I hope that you will all
understand that this is a difficult time for all those connected with the
football club.
"Mick Kemp, Steve Cattermole and myself hope that we can depend on your
continued support over what is likely to be a short but difficult period."
