Scarborough on trial at Dover

DEFENDER John Scarborough has joined Dover Athletic on trial and has signed Ryman League forms for the Hoverspeed Stadium club, writes Justin Allen.

Dover's head coach Richard Langley needs more experience at the back after a poor start to the season and Scarborough could fit the bill perfectly.

Scarborough, 25, has played at Ryman League Premier Division level with Billericay Town and started pre-season on trial at rivals Chelmsford City and could go into the squad for today's home clash with Northwood.

The tall centre-back also enjoyed a successful time with Eastbourne Borough, when they won the Sussex County League.

Langley said: "We had him down for training on Thursday and got him registered with us.

"However , I must stress he is very much here on trial so we're going to take a look at him and take it from there.

"We've not spoken about contracts or money yet but we won't be signing anyone who wants more than we're prepared to pay."

Meanwhile, Langley is to make a statement next week after receiving a list of questions from frustrated Dover fans via their official website.

The statement, which he plans to pen this weekend, is to cover most of the points raised by supporters and will be released on their official website - www.doverathletic.com and on www.kentishfootball.co.uk
