Whites settle with Browne and Townsend

Dover Athletic have settled a contract dispute with former manager Steve Browne and his assistant Troy Townsend, reports www.doverathletic.com

Browne and Townsend were relieved of their duties in January with the club languishing hopelessly in the Ryman League Premier Division relegation zone.

The management duo rejected the club's pay-off offer and took legal action against Dover Athletic, citing that Whites had "breached their contract".

But yesterday morning, lawyers acting for the club reached agreement with representatives of Browne and Townsend shortly before a tribunal.

Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter said: "The figure agreed was very close to the sum initially offered by the club. It's a shame Steve and Troy wasted so much time and money in taking the matter to a tribunal.

"We're glad to have finally reached agreement with the two gentlemen and wish them well for the future."

Browne, who took over from Richard Langley last October, won just one league game and lost nine during his spell at the club. In contrast, Whites won seven of the remaining 15 matches under the management of Clive Walker - losing five and drawing the other three.
