Dover ready for AFC Wimbledon visit

DOVER ATHLETIC director John Farringdon has confirmed there will be segregation for Saturday's FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie against AFC Wimbledon at The Hoverspeed Stadium, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Dons will be playing their first ever FA Cup tie as AFC Wimbledon and they currently average a whopping 2,731 in the Ryman League Division One.

Dover officials have put plans in place that the FA Cup showdown goes off without a hitch and both sets of supporters will enjoy what is a mouth-watering clash.

Farringdon confirmed: "First of all, I can confirm that there will be segregation at Saturday's game.

"I can also confirm that Dover Athletic supporters will be at the "River End" of the ground.

"Entrance into the ground will be via the main turnstiles with Dover fans having the three turnstiles to the extreme right and AFC Wimbledon supporters having the other five across to the left as you come up the slope.  The club has installed temporary safety fencing to make it clear which side both sets of fans should enter.

"The clubhouse "The Centre Spot" will close at 2:30pm and will not re-open until 5:00pm.

"At the end of the game Dover Athletic supporters will leave via the normal exit down the slope, AFC Wimbledon supporters will leave the ground via the rear exit through what is normally the directors car park down to where their coaches will be waiting outside the bottom of the old ground in Crabble Lane.

"The ground will be open from 1:15pm onwards and it would be appreciated if all supporters could arrive as early as possible to avoid last minute congestion.

"Programmes, golden goal tickets and Cashcade Tickets will be available at the bottom of the slope and not the other side of the turnstiles as usual.

Should the game end in a draw, the replay will take place next Tuesday at Kingsmeadow.

The game will be covered by Stephen McCartney, editor of www.kentishfootball.co.uk as well as Matt Gerrard from BBC Radio Kent (96.7FM), and no doubt by many more.
